Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the TATUS mobile application and related services (“TATUS”, “we”, “us”) collect, use, store and protect your personal data. TATUS is a productivity tool for tattoo artists: portfolio, scheduling, client management (CRM), a unified client-message inbox and AI assistance.

1. Who we are (Data Controller)

The data controller is Dmytro Kravchuk, an individual developer based in Ukraine, operator of the TATUS application.
Contact: support@tatus.app

2. Data we collect

AI assistant dialogsYour requests to the AI assistant and its repliesRun the assistant: the dialog history is stored encrypted on our server; analysis to improve the assistant — only with your separate consent (see §4)

We do not use advertising trackers, do not sell personal data, and do not share data with data brokers. We do not engage in cross-app/cross-site tracking.

3. Client messages and privacy

If you connect a messaging channel (e.g. Telegram Business), client messages are delivered into your in-app inbox so you can reply from TATUS. Message text is encrypted at rest (AES-256) with a key held on our server — this is not end-to-end encryption; the sender’s name and Telegram ID are stored unencrypted. Messages are kept until you delete the chat or your account. You are responsible, as the controller of your clients’ data, for handling those conversations lawfully and informing your clients where required.

3a. If you are a client of a TATUS artist

Tattoo and piercing artists use TATUS to run their work. If an artist you contacted or visit uses TATUS, the artist is the controller of your data: they decide what to record and why. We process that data on the artist’s behalf and on their instructions, as their processor (see our Terms of Use, §4a), and do not use it for our own purposes such as advertising.

3b. Studios

An artist joins a studio only by accepting an invitation. While they are a member, the studio’s owner and admins see the artist’s busy times and the sessions the studio assigned to them; other sessions and amounts only if payout terms are set for the artist. The app shows the artist exactly what the studio sees (“Studio sees”); this may include the clients’ names on those sessions. When the artist leaves the studio, the studio stops seeing their busy times.

4. AI assistance

TATUS offers an optional AI assistant for replies, estimates and summaries. Before you first use AI features, the app (version 1.1.7 and later) asks for your explicit permission to send data to our AI provider, Google; you can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy (“AI assistant (Google)”). AI processing happens on the server. The assistant works with your business data (sessions, finances, client records) when you ask it to, and reads client conversations from the inbox only with your separate opt-in (“AI reads my chats” on the “Connected channels” screen), which you can withdraw at any time. Requests, photos you attach, the data the assistant looks up and the replies it reads aloud are processed by Google (Gemini, Cloud Text-to-Speech) — see §6 and §7. We use Google’s paid API: Google does not use this data to train or improve its models; for Gemini it may keep prompts and responses for up to 55 days solely to detect abuse and meet legal obligations. AI output is a suggestion and not professional, legal, medical or financial advice.

Analysis of your AI dialogs (separate consent). With your separate opt-in consent, we collect your requests to the AI assistant and its replies to understand where the assistant fails and improve it. This data is processed in PostHog (EU region); raw dialog texts are retained for up to 30 days; technical metadata (tokens, latency) for up to 12 months. Client conversations from the inbox never go into this analysis — when the assistant works with your correspondence (reply drafts, chat lookups), the dialog text is stripped and only technical metadata (tokens, latency) is recorded; tool results such as client records are not sent either. You can withdraw consent anytime in Settings → Privacy; collection stops immediately.

4a. Anonymous market statistics (“You vs the market”)

This works only with your consent. We count only artists who turned it on themselves: by tapping “Allow” in the app (for example, on the “You vs the market” card), in Settings → Privacy (“Anonymous market statistics”), or by answering “Yes, I allow” to the in-app question about market statistics. You see the market figures only while it is on.

Once a day we compute anonymous, aggregated market reference figures: the typical session price and the price per hour of work (25th, 50th and 75th percentiles of artists’ own medians over the last 90 days), by currency, service type (tattoo or piercing) and city — or the whole currency market when a city has too few artists. We use only completed, paid sessions: the amount received, the session duration and the city and currency from your profile. No client names, contacts or messages are used.

An artist is counted only if they have at least 5 such sessions and an account older than 30 days, and each artist counts once (their own median), so one unusual price cannot move the market. A group is published only if it includes at least 10 artists. The results contain no names, clients or individual sessions; only artists who have turned the statistics on see the market ranges in the app, and only you see your own position against them. The published figures are recalculated from scratch every day; no history of them is kept.

Legal basis: your consent (see §5). You can withdraw it at any time: turn off “Anonymous market statistics” in Settings → Privacy — your sessions are excluded from the next daily recalculation, and the market figures are hidden from you.

5. Legal bases

We process personal data under the GDPR and UK GDPR, the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection” and other applicable law, on these bases:

PurposeLegal basis
Your account, CRM, scheduling, inbox, notifications, subscription and supportContract — to provide the app and the features you use
Anonymous market statistics (§4a)Consent
Sending your data to our AI provider, Google, for AI features (§4)Consent
AI access to your inbox conversations (“AI reads my chats”)Consent
Analysis of your AI dialogs (§4)Consent
Marketing messages (§5b)Consent
Security, account protection, fraud and abuse preventionLegitimate interests
Product improvement, usage statistics and crash reports (§5a)Legitimate interests — you can switch them off in the app (version 1.1.7 and later): “Usage statistics” in Settings → Privacy
Tax and accounting records, responses to lawful requestsLegal obligation

Consent is optional, and you can withdraw it at any time where you gave it (Settings → Privacy, Settings → Notifications for marketing, or the “Connected channels” screen). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.

Right to object. You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests. We will then stop, unless we have compelling legitimate grounds (for example, protecting accounts from abuse). For usage statistics, simply switch them off in the app.

5a. Analytics, cookies and local storage

In the app (iOS and web) we use PostHog (EU region) for the usage statistics and crash reports described in §2. They are tied to your account ID, not your name or email, and are never used for advertising or cross-app tracking. You can switch them off (version 1.1.7 and later): Settings → Privacy → “Usage statistics”; the app then stops sending usage statistics and crash reports to PostHog.

We run no analytics on the public pages your clients open — your artist page (/m/…) and your request form (/r/…). These pages are part of the web app, which also loads the Google Sign-In and Telegram scripts; like any web request, those services receive the visitor’s IP address, but we do not use them to track visitors.

Cookies and local storage. We do not use advertising cookies. The web version of the app keeps what it needs to work in your browser’s local storage — your sign-in session and settings such as language — as well as a PostHog identifier for usage statistics (in a cookie and local storage). The tatus.app website, including this page, uses no analytics or advertising cookies: it only remembers your language choice in local storage, loads fonts from Google Fonts and page scripts from the unpkg.com CDN (these services receive your IP address, as with any web request). You can clear this data at any time in your browser settings. The iOS app keeps similar data on your device.

5b. Marketing messages

We send TATUS news and offers (push notifications, Telegram messages and messages in the app) only with your consent — the “News & offers” switch in Settings → Notifications. You can withdraw it at any time: turn the switch off, tap “Stop news” under a message from our Telegram bot, or send /news_off to the bot. Service messages needed to run your account (security, session reminders and the daily brief, your subscription, replies from support) are not marketing and are sent regardless.

6. Service providers (processors)

We update this list before a new provider starts processing your data or your clients’ data; if we add or replace a provider that processes client data, we notify you in the app in advance (see our Terms of Use, §4a).

7. International transfers

Our main database and file storage are in the European Union (Ireland). Some providers process data in other countries; for each we rely on a recognised safeguard:

“Adequate protection” means the country is recognised as ensuring an adequate level of data protection — for example, by an EU or UK adequacy decision or, under Ukrainian law, as a party to Council of Europe Convention 108. For more about these safeguards, write to support@tatus.app.

8. Data retention

We keep personal data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete your data from our database and file storage (except short service logs that are purged on their own schedule); copies held by processors (analytics, subscription, push and AI providers) are removed according to their retention policies; de-identified usage statistics may be kept, and records of purchases are kept as required for accounting and legal obligations. For client data that artists keep in TATUS, see §3a.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR, UK GDPR and the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection”) you may: access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to processing (see §5), request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. Contact support@tatus.app.

Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can write to us — we acknowledge complaints within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority: in Ukraine — the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights; in the UK — the Information Commission (ICO); in the EU — the data protection authority of your country; in Canada — the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

Delete your account: you can delete your account and associated data in the app (Settings → “Delete account” at the bottom of the screen), or by emailing support@tatus.app. Deletion is permanent.

10. Subscriptions and payments

TATUS Pro is an auto-renewable subscription through Apple In-App Purchase. Payment is processed by Apple; we do not receive or store your card details. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings. Subscription state is managed via RevenueCat.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures: encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for inbox message text and AI dialogs (AES-256; the key is held by us, so this is not end-to-end encryption), database access rules, access controls and least-privilege practices. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

12. Age

TATUS accounts are for adults: you must be at least 18 to create one. The service is not directed to children. If you believe someone under 18 has created a TATUS account, write to support@tatus.app and we will delete it. Data of artists’ clients — including clients who send a request with a parent’s consent — is covered by §3a: the artist decides what happens to it.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, in-app notice.
